Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Belts

BBJJ belts are available in only 5 colours, starting at white, and, as with most martial arts, ending at black. The BJJ journey is one of the longest, with white belts typically taking two years to reach blue. BJJ belts are viewed with pride, because it is one of the few areas where you truly have to earn your belt.

Gradings are generally non-existent, belts are usually awarded on hard work and merit, and, as with many old traditions, you progress when you start beating those above you. BJJ belts tend to be higher quality to ensure they will last the required time between promotions.
