What a fantastic advert for UK Judo, with Gemma Gibbon securing a silver in the women’s under 78Kg bracket, scoring a golden Ippon against the current French World Champion, Audrey Tcheumeo to reach the final.
The last British medallist was Gibbons’s own coach Kate Howey, who took silver in Sydney 2000 games!
Gemma lost to American Kayla Harrison in a closely fought final, but did herself and UK Judo proud with such a great achievement!
