Karate training requires very little in terms of equipment, a basic karate uniform to begin with is all you require. Karate uniforms come in different weights, and, as a rule, the better you become, the heavier karate suit you will need. The Karate gi is a simple 'wrap over' stykle uniform, and all basic models usually come with a white karate belt.

For sparring, Karate still keeps things pretty simple, with a basic set of Karate Mitts and some shin & instep protectors, usually in red or blue. Shin & instep protectors are often separable, so you can wear these as a foot protector or a shin protector, put them together and you have the complete shin & instep protection. Other basic necessities for any sparring are groin guards and gum shields.
